Many of our uniform and traditional Mu'umu'u styles are still in use today. These classic styles hold a place in modern Hawaiian fashion because they have the simple, flowing lines of old Hawai'i.
Elizabeth “Betty” Manchester, founder of Bete Mu’u, wanted her designs to reflect Hawai’i. In addition to giving each design a style number, she gifted each design a name to reflect the culture and life in Hawai’i. We share with you Bete Mu’u Designs in collaboration with two of our local designers. Come with us as we begin our journey with four of “Betty’s” gifts:
